Follow these instructions to enter Simple Movement details.
- The following are the Instructions to enter an Payment Misc Movement as a Simple Movement. This
Movement type may also be entered as a Complex Movement. See below for instructions.
- The next part to the creation of the Payment Misc Movement is to describe
the movement. This is done through the Movement Details section of the Simple Movements
Entry screen and must be completed before moving onto the section that enables you to save the
details of the movement/s.
- The cursor will highlight a drop down box which initially displays the words ---
Select Movement Type ---. Click on the down arrow (
) on the
right hand side of the drop down box and a set of all the possible Movement Types will be
displayed. The list of available Movement Types will be displayed according to the category of the
Movement and the type of Account selected. The possible categories are Cash Movements, Investment
Movements, Corporate Actions and Interest/Dividends but only those Movement types that are appropriate
for the Account selected will be displayed. After clicking on the down arrow, use the scroll bar on
the right to move down through the list of Movement Types (if necessary) until you see the
Payment Misc words. Click on these words to select the Payment Misc Movement type. You
may notice that the screen changes slightly to display only those fields which are appropriate for this
Movement type.
- The next step is to specify the Date which is the date on which the
Movement occurred. Hit the Tab key to move to the Date field and then either type the date into the
field using a standard date format or select a date using the Date Picker (the box with
on it) to the right of the Date field.
Within the Date Picker, today's date is highlighted. If you manually enter a date you will need to hit
the Tab key to move to the next field. If you use the date picker the cursor will automatically
advance.
- Having entered a date, the next step is to enter the size of the Payment that you are making with
this Movement. This is done by entering a value in the field labelled Amount.
Then hit the Tab key to advance. This will highlight the Comment field.
- Next you can optionally type a brief but descriptive phrase in the field labelled
Comment to enable you to separate this movement from others of the
same type. For instance, you may enter "Payment for Airfares to Spain".
- You are then able to repeat this process to add further Movements which may be Payment Misc Movements
or Movements of other types. If at any time you enter incorrect details, you may correct the information
by clicking in the field with the incorrect data or you may hit the button labelled
Clear and start again. If you wish to start again without saving any of the Movements that you
have created then click on the button at the bottom left of the screen labelled Cancel
and the screen will reload with all fields cleared and the cursor positioned in the Portfolio field
ready for data entry.
- Once you have added all the Movements which you wish to enter, click on the button at the bottom
right of the screen labelled Save to write the list of Movements to the
Database.
- You may then close the Movements entry screen by either clicking on the yellow Close
button at the bottom left of the screen or clicking on the X at the top right
of the screen.
Follow these instructions to enter the Complex Movement details.
- Initially a new screen will appear with the Movement type in the field labelled Movement
at the top left of the screen. The cursor will be positioned in the Account field.
- Beneath the Movement drop down box there is a drop down box labelled on the left hand side with
the word Account. Click on the down arrow (
) on
the right hand side of the box and a set of the possible Accounts will be displayed. After clicking
on the down arrow, use the scroll bar on the right to move down through the list of Accounts until
you see the Account in the list into which the Movement will go. Click on the Account to select it.
Remember that the Account must be of the type that enables the Movement to occur. If the Movement is
a Cash Movement then the Account must be a Cash Account or an Account with no Restriction. Likewise,
if the Movement you are creating is an Investment type then the Account must be Investment only or no
Restriction.
- If you have created more than 1 Portfolio, you may change the Portfolio into which you wish to
add the asset. To do this, click on the down arrow (
) on the right
hand side of the drop down box and a set of all the possible Portfolios will be displayed. After
clicking on the down arrow, use the scroll bar on the right to move down through the list of Portfolios
until you see the Portfolio that you want for this Movement. Click on the Portfolio to select it and
then hit the Tab key to advance.
- The next step is to enter the Currency that the Movement was valued in. To do
this, click on the down arrow (
) on the right hand side of the box and
a set of the possible Currencies will be displayed. After clicking on the down arrow, use the scroll
bar on the right to move down through the list of Currencies until you see the Currency in the list
in which the Movement occurred. Click on the Currency to select it.
- The next step is to specify the Effective Date which is the date on which
the Movement occurred. To do this you can either type the date into the date field or select a date
using the date picker (the box with
on it) to the right of the
Effective Date field.
- It is possible to enter a number of Miscellaneous payments through this Movement type. They
must have all have the same Portfolio, Currency and Effective Date.
- The next step is to enter the type of the first Payment that you are adding through this movement. This is
done by selecting a type from the drop down box labelled Allocation.
- The next step is to enter the Value of the Payment. This is done by entering a value in
the field to the right of the Allocation drop down box.
- Click on the Add Button to the right of the screen to add the
movement to the Miscellaneous Payments list. If you make a mistake you can click on the
Reset button and start again.
- The Service will calculate the Net Payment for you and display it in the
field labelled Net Payment. It is the sum of all the Miscellaneous Payments that you add. You may
then add more Payments building up a list in the display box. Each payment added will change the
value of the Net Payment field.
- When you have completed adding Payments you can optionally type a brief but descriptive phrase in the field labelled
Comment at the bottom of the screen to enable you to separate this movement from others of the
same type. For instance, you may enter "Payments associated with House Purchase".
- Lastly click on the Add Button at the bottom right of the screen to add the
movement.
